One thing you might do in your municipal capacity, Bob (and congratulstions on kicking the Mayoral Notion into the long grass, btw) is to find out whether the Bill will legalise sacking people for their political views either generally or only for those employers to whom the Blob gives permission…

Most cities made absolutely the right decision on Mayors, Mike (poor Bristol). I suspect the two-year, sack ‘em-for-whatever-reason-you-like rule will give employers enough time to get rid of ‘undesirables’. You’ve almost got to admire the brass neck of people who use turning the. uK in to a third world employment model as a solution to unemployment.

        Hi Bob,
Talking about mayors, spare a thought for poor old Sion Simon MP for Erdington who left the commons in 2010 to pursue his ambition to become the mayor of Birmingham, this being with the blessing of our party.
His seat then should have according to rule, qualified as an all-womens shortlist, campaigned for up and down the country by Harriet Harman, simply because of the nature of the seat being classed as safe.
But then we all know what happened, the short list was declared an “open short list” Hariet Harmans husband Jack Dromey was parachuted in, and the rest as they say is history. (so much for womens equality).

    Cor! What a side-splitter!

Bob, in your topsy turvy world of Sandwell politics, do you not accept that the biggest mass un-employer of the Century goes to Labour circa 2005-2010?
Did Labour make things better for the worker?
Is Ed just spouting and shouting the odds with not a policy between his ears?
Trident? How many jobs is that worth?
