Anyone who loves cricket and who has ever had an opportunity to appreciate the mastery of Sachin Tendulkar will, I am sure, join in the warm congratulations to him as he finally ends the agonising wait for his 100th international century.
He played his first Test Match for India aged 16 and it will be 20 years ago this Summer that I saw the young Sachin play for Yorkshire at Cheltenham against Gloucestershire, and even as a teenager it was obvious he had star quality. He has lived his life in an incredible goldfish bowl atmosphere in India where Sachin is a cricketing god, so I suspect now, at the age of 38 he will consider retiring and taking things easy.
But, Sachin old chap, if you’ve got a couple of months to spare over the Summer I’m absolutely certain you would be welcome to flash that bat at Headingley just a few more times.
Good on you, wee man. Well done.

They don’t make ‘em like that any more
