One Response to Digby on Globalisation and Mayors

  1. Gary Elsby says:

    I really don’t understand this.
Why do you think Labour won every vote in Stoke for a Mayor?
Why was the position only given to Labour, once?
Why do you think the voters then got rid of the entire system of elected Mayors?

Because everything you are reading, hearing and viewing is complete bullshit.
It is propaganda to sell a new commodity.
That commodity is all things to all people and is so full of compromise, understanding and offers tough good leadership in the process.

No it doesn’t, it bypasses local communities by ignoring local councillors whom hold local opinions on grave matters for their respective areas.
New tough talking Mayors get on with it and railraod through sound projects and ideas.

No they don’t, Councillors do that now.
Mayor’s shut things down and pander to Government’s wishes.
A Mayor is not a publicly elected official, devoid of party, they are Government lackeys sent to shut councillors up.

A Labour Mayor is not under the Labour groug whip and can ignore the Councillors at will.
Seen it and seen it shut it down (then arrested).

If you believe in Democracy from grassroots upwards, then do not accept a Mayor that runs from top down and have proven track records of ignoring grassroots opinions.
