When some of us claimed that the whole royal wedding nonsense was an extravagance, and the wealthy celebrating while the nation was having to cut another notch in their belts, we were told that the wedding was a good thing because it would be a boost to the economy. What with all the commemorative tea towels, china mugs and plates and other assorted junk which would be snapped up by gullible tourists.
Now,must a couple of months later we are told the reason the country is in danger of slipping back into recession is down to… the bloody royal wedding! Just remember this the next time we are asked to fork out for some royal or other to have a giant party at the nation’s expense.
My god – a socialist complaining about a day off work, now there’s a turn-up for the books…
