Great demonstration yesterday, and the UNISON presence was just amazing! Shame that the media largely ignored the 250,000 who demonstrated peacefully to concentrate on the 250 muppets who thought that terrorising the streets of London was the way to go… but why should we be surprised. There is a long Summer ahead of us and the sense of solidarity in the crowd was brilliant.
But whoever thought it was a good idea to dish out thousands of those vuvuzela-style plastic trumpets deserves one shoving up their arse – sideways!
Tony’s got some pics, with a promise of more to follow.

I doubt there were 250,000 there, the numbers are always exaggerated/lied about (delete as necessary) by interested parties, however, there were certainly a great many more of your mouth-breathing, knuckle-dragging fraternity around because over 200 were actually arrested.
Anyway, perhaps one of these days the lying liars who organise these street parties will actually print a truthful slogan for the placards, you know, something like: “Labour cuts are better cuts than Tory cuts“, because there are Labour cuts, are there not, Councillor? Come on, you can tell us, strictly in confidence, we promise not to spread it around.
Duffers, you are sooo poorly informed. Labour made no secret about the need for cuts. Miliband even told the marchers that. The argument is about how far and how soon.
Do try to keep up and read something other than the Daily Express.
Well, that’s funny,Councillor, because I have peered long and hard at your very useful photo adn whilst I can see a plethora of “NO CUTS” placards I can’t see a single one saying
“LABOUR CUTS – YES
TORY CUTS – NO”
or words to that effect. Can it mean that ‘Cain’ Miliband is failing to get his message across to the party faithful – oh no, tell me it ain’t so! Perhaps its his adenoids getting in the way.
Bob; Possibly you should have told that old tosser “Duffers” about the Daily Record and other newspapers stating that there were over 400,000 people on the march on 26/03/2011 in London, and better still Paul Mason on Newsnight on Monday night stating that there could have been nearly 500,000 demonstrating in London. It has always been a tactic of the Metropolitan Police or the Home Office to misquote the size of demonstrations(best example to my mind, was the mass demonstration over the Iraq war it took them months to admit there were a million people in london that weekend; unfortunately not achieving its aims) for obviously political reasons. But looking at the expression on the faces of Cable and co trying to pass it off as an insignificant event, Ithink they are getting the message , that this is the start of things to come. There is’nt much to be pleased about in politics these days but when I see the likes of Duffers trying to minimise the effects of Saturdays demo, it does give me a certain amount of pleasure, knowing they’re getting diarrhoea over the thought of what they are coming up against, not they would ever dare admit it. So, hopefully , the lesson is beginning to be learnt, next step is to give Cameron and Clegg a real thrashing in the local elections and Scottish and Welsh Parliamentary elections in May; plus getting a majority for A.V. But then Duffers will be on here saying “Councillor this is a positive result for Cameron and Clegg”.
Hi Bob
As Promised, I have more photos HERE
How can a man with a name like “Piper” complain about the vuvuzelas. I thought they were fantastic, You miserable old bugger.
What do we want?
More debt!
When do we want it?
Now!
Thought the police and the TUC agreed the 250,000+ figure. It certainly seemed a lot of people on the ground. It took a long time to get round, but was worth it stood at the top of the Mall looking back over god knows how many people. I saw Alan Rickman doing just the same which kind of made my day. It was about 4:00pm by the time I reached Hyde Park – missing Ed Miliband’s speech – but to be honest I don’t think that was the point.
Hiya Comrade, Good pictures in the Guardian especially the one with the woman with the little lad on her shoulders. View from the Street carries a scary picture, two political heavyweights as they say. Obviously not many pies left from the buffet. But I’m told that his Elvis impersonation comes a poor second to his impersonation of a leader of a Metropolitan Borough Council. Hope its warm where you are.Enjoy
Well, to all those who said he hadn’t got the balls to make a tit of himself in public, I hope you’re ready to apologise. He’s been doing it over a year now!
