‘Bingo Bob’ Clegg

One of my favourite Private Eye covers, from back in the days when it still did satire before Hislop ruined it totally, was this one featuring Richard Nixon:

The writers of the West Wing picked up on the same theme when President Bartlett chose Bingo Bob Russell (a man so bland his secret service code name was Bob Russell) as his running mate. As Toby said… “The fate of the world just hung on a Bingo Bob brainstorm… we need a better plan.”
There is something of the Bob Russell about Nick Clegg that should make us all a little uneasy.
