The return of two party politics

Political Betting tonight reports two pollsters spelling out misery for the Liberal Democrats. If there is a surprise in these polls, and I have to say I don’t place too much faith in them, it is that the Tories are doing quite well, and avoiding taking a hit for the cuts budget. Clearly the allegation of hypocrisy is damaging the Liberals badly, and Labour seem to be doing better without a leader.
If this trend continues it will cause jitters amongst Liberals in the country (Ramsey MacClegg and his small band of mercenaries have guaranteed themselves five years of ministerial perks) because they know that they will be trudging a rocky road on their trip back to the wilderness in the next few years.
It will be difficult to avoid a smirk when the Liberals find themselves still a tiny fringe party even after the AV election they have sold their souls for.

  1. Reading some of your earlier posts and those of others, it seems to me that the Liberals may as well split into LibTories and Labour. They are finished as a potential alternative government.

You do have to wonder how much longer the LibDems will survive as a single party.
