  1. Charlie says:

Serious allegations have been made by a widely respected journalist (and others) as to the Bullying Culture in No10.
The only question which requires answering is “Is there or is there not a bullying culture in No10? “.
Anything else is a smokescreen to distract us from this central question.

  2. Bob says:

widely respected!!!… you’re having a laugh? The man is a legend in his own mind.

  3. Ian McNee says:

Charlie: actually anyone who has had more than a passing interest in politics will have come across stories of a bullying culture from local councils all the way up to the cabinet.
The current indignation of assorted politicians and commentators seems to me to have a substantial streak of sanctimonious hypocrisy, especially in light of amateurish and apparently self-interested intervention of Christine Pratt and the so-called National Bullying Helpline.
I expect there is a bullying culture at No. 10 and this may involve Gordon Brown, but I expect it’s not a new thing and that it goes back long before Blair/Campbell too. With all the granstanding and self-promotion this furore will just degenerate into political squabbles while the real and significant issue of workplace bullying is left by the wayside.
If Cameron, Rawnsley, Pratt (and for that matter Brown and Mandelson) really wanted to tackle workplace bullying they would be encouraging people to join an appropriate trade union and repeal legislation that prevents workers from collectively defending their rights and conditions in the workplace.

  4. Charlie says:

What ever you personally think of Rawnsley, we should find whether these allegations have any substance.

  5. Bob says:

And how would you propose to do that whilst preserving the anonymity of those involved, Charlie? Now that Ms Pratt has got her required publicity, I see she has decided (rather belatedly) to confirm that her ‘national’ helpline has had no complaints about Brown. Which leaves us with… red red-socked fop Rawnsley and his third-hand anonymous sources. As Mandelson said yesterday, in a previous book Rawnsley faithfully reproduced a conversation held between Blair and Mandelson with no-one else in the room, and which neither of them had ever discussed with anyone.
He’s flogging books and serial rights, for Christ’s sake!
Ian – spot on. The First Division Association are non-affiliated. Let them speak up for their members, not someone plugging her helpline.

  6. newmania says:

Thses tales have been well known for at least two years and come from many many sources
Just how far does the conspiracy go Bob ?
I expect you think he is straight as well

  7. newmania says:

. ‘As Mandelson said’ ….. Is a sentence that starts like that really worth writing … ?You mean he did not say,” Ok game over, he is a nutty blind gaylord who pops pills and beats his staff ”
    Fancy

  8. Charlie says:

Ian, Bob. You are both contributing to the smokescreen.
    The central issue is:
Is there a bullying culture at No10? and
is our Prime Minister a bully?
No one cares if Balls, Mandy etc are shouted at. But if junior members of staff have been bullied, it is a different matter.

  9. Bob says:

“Gaylord”… what on earth was that piece I wrote about Tories dragging themselves out of the dark ages. Why not “queer boy” newmania, if you really want to display your Richard Littlejohn tendencies. You really can show what a stupid little turd you are at times.
We do have evidence of the bullying though… a court has proved it…

  10. Bob says:

Charlie, you can repeat it as often as you like, but the fact is, you don’t know, and neither does Rawnsley apparently… but unlike you he has been told some gossip he can score a few quid out of.
If you know, and you have evidence… share it… otherwise, it’s just smear tactics.

  11. Charlie says:

Bob, Watt and Price have recently contributed 1st hand allegations. Rawnsley (whatever you may think of him)has now added his allegations.
No matter how much the oily Mandy tries to muddy the waters, this story is unlikely to go away until there has been proper investigation.

  12. David Duff says:

Well, a ‘cat’ of some sort is out of the bag so I suppose there should be a public enquiry of some sort costing not less than £1m. I mean, that’s the sort of thing Lefties always call for any and every time an alleged scandal erupts, and after all, it’s only, er, fair – now where have I heard that word recently …?

Do you have to bring your grimy little fantasies here? Better for us all if you “beat your staff” in private.

  14. yozza says:

Since Mrs Pratt has stated the people who called her did not complain about Brown why did she feel the need to rush to the media when Mandelson denied Brown was a bully? By her own words she agrees with Mandelson.I suspect this whole rumpus will put paid to Pratt’s bullying ‘charity’- as it should.

  15. newmania says:

I see, hit a PC nerve did I ? Alright then he lived from the age of 20 to nearly 50 as a ‘confirmed bachelor’ , if you like and the marriage arranged by Unite paymaster Charlie Whelan with his PR flunkey was ” His first true love “. Fine , not sure who has the issue here but you know best …
Peter Oborne first covered the assault on the Garden Girls in 2007 and as everyone has said ,including Mandy ,( ok to say he is gay ?)on numerous occassions he is a bully and as Campbell said has psychological flaws
Do you not see anything ridiculous about these two marshalling the defence of a man they have attacked so often and so viciously and of whom, Bob Piper has expressed his exceedingly low opinion ?
If you are going to talk crap can it not be the same crap from one day to the next?

  16. Ian McNee says:

newmania: As ever your logic is faulty. Like Bob I have no remit for Mandelson and not much for Brown. It does not follow from that that either of us think that it is OK for Cameron to smear Brown with baseless (i.e. no actual *evidence* to date) and hypocritical (Coulson and others) accusations.
Oh and I hope you enjoy the collapse of the so-called National Bullying Hotline: the majority of their patrons have deserted them. Ann Widdecombe, Prof. Cary Cooper, Sarah Cawood and Cllr. (Tory) Mary O’Connor have all resigned over the utterly unprofessional behaviour of Catherine Pratt in this sordid smear campaign.

  17. Newmania says:

The central smear is that she was out up to it by the Conservative Party . This is pure invention which you repeat on the advice of a known liar Peter Mandelson who has confirmed her story on numerous occasions in the past when it suited him.
.That La Pratt should not have revealed the information and taken a charity into a political arena is already obvious , but that concerns the charity not the politics . What we have seen is the familiar hatchet job from the Mc Bride stable
“Remember Rose Addis, the 94-year-old left in blood-soaked bedding on a hospital trolley? She was branded a “racist” by the Labour propaganda machine because of remarks she had made to her black carer. Or Pam Warren, the Paddington rail crash survivor and campaigner? A Tory stooge, according to Labour spin doctors.s”
Darling is tonight outing the Brown hate team and he is only the latest in a long line to say what Rawnsley says is true and in fact I do not think anyone seriously doubts it
