I am on my own in the USA!
One day I was in the Job Centre, which has security provided by Group 4 (now GSL). As the security guard checked my signing in book, he said, “So, you’re the real John Hirst!”. He went onto explain that when the Prisoners Votes Case hit the headlines his employers called him in as they conducted an investigation to determine whether he was in fact the same John Hirst and if so how he had breached their security to get a job with them! You couldn’t make it up.
There is a well know academic and author in Australia who is an expert on the Transportation of convicts and he shares my name!
