Sharing Our Pain

In these times of great economic difficulty, when all parties are trying to outdo each other as to who would make the most humane cuts in public expenditure, there is one section who really do need to share our pain.

  1. Richard Allen says:

There goes the knighthood eh Bob.

  2. Isn’t ma’am one of the richest women in the world?
If she wants servants then I see no reason why she cannot pay for them from her own wealth.
What an Act of folly that only allows for the civil list to remain the same or increased but does not permit the amount to be reduced!
Come the revolution we can pass the Repatriation of German and Greek Prisoners of War Act…

  3. Mr. Jolly says:

    Bob.
I was going to post a very cutting response to JHL’s post, but instead I am going to just ask instead that people go over to Wikipedia and have a quick look at Prince Phillip’s war record.
He played an honourable part in the fight against Fascism as did millions of others of his generation.
To make jokes about the ‘Repatriation … of Greek Prisoners of War’ is just not on.

  4. Bob the Black Country Brummie says:

    bloody typical

  5. Bob Piper says:

Mr Jolly, I’m afraid I didn’t quite understand the pow reference myself. However, my old fellah fought the Germans too, and was wounded on the Dunkirk beaches, but no-one handed over £183 million for him to keep his family.

  6. Mr Jolly: I think I would have preferred the very cutting response. I am not a royalist. I seem to recall reading somewhere that the name Windsor was adopted to put distance between Germans and the British during World War 2. Mountbatten also became the new name.
As I am against the death penalty, repatriation is a more humane option.
I am sorry that you did not enjoy my jolly jape.
I think when Bob said “I’m afraid I didn’t quite understand the pow reference myself”, he meant it’s all Greek to me.
