The Guardian carries a report that the Tory model for the future of public services is… EasyGov.
I liked this in the comments….
Hmmm. The last time I flew Ryanair I had such an unpleasant experience I though to myself ‘next time, I’ll fly with someone else, pay a little bit more and actually have a service that doesn’t cause me stress and discomfort’.
These were much the same thoughts I had the last time the Tories were in power, actually. I guess it IS a good analogy!

Tories + easyJet = This.
The problem is, Bob, the more people pay for the service the more they demand in return, and as a local councillor you will be aware of this more than most. I often hear “I’m not doing it, that’s what I pay council tax for!” If Barnet get it right people might well do the little things themselves, like clearing snow, rather than pay extra for a council worker to come out and do it. It might even foster greater community spirit, which I’m sure we would all be in favour of.
Ha! Very good comment.
Personally, I think if there is any good to be drawn from the initiative in Barnet its that necessities should come before luxuries. Fair’s fair. But this isn’t new or “EasyGov”, no, its SocialGov. Tories will do anything to look in date. Next William Hague will be turning his baseball cap to the side…
What do you reckon Bob. Would it fly in the six towns?
Mad Maggie & the Morons in the 80′s said Private good Public bad and look where it got us.
These people know the price of everything and the value of nothing.
Incidentally, as an adviser to the banks he did well investing in Iceland.
These people know the price of everything and the value of nothing.
Thats because we pay the price and you get the value. My ordinary working life seems to have no value whatsoever to New Labour except as a source of endless charitable contributions to friends of New Labour.
