The ones that got away…

Iain Dale was generous enough today to include me in a list of bloggers, although the short description wasn’t one I could readily identify with. I say generous because Iain’s own views are often the subject of my ire, so I really should try to adopt a more forgiving nature. Anyway, it got me thinking about the political blogs I read regularly, that I consider to be particularly well written, and didn’t make it into Iain’s list. So, in no order…
The Bickerstaffe Record – Councillor Paul Cotterill writes short, witty and incisive posts as well as longer, analytical pieces, and he manages to combine the local and national in a way I’ve never managed.
Liam Murray – A right of centre blogger who has emerged from a number of retirements. Always interesting and thought provoking with a lack of tribalism that most other political bloggers never manage to achieve.
Skipper – I frequently appear to disagree with points Bill makes, but generally speaking his thoughtful pieces are very much aligned to my own views. He is just better at articulating them, that’s all.
Political Futures – The blog of Andy Howell, former Deputy Leader of Birmingham City Council. Andy is another who blows a bit hot and cold with his blogging, but when he does post I always find it interesting. I don’t always agree, but that’s OK, and if he were to combine some of the humour found in the Bickerstaffe Record on his blog it would be really top notch.

Too kind Bob but thanks again.
I’ve only ‘emerged from a number of retirements’ because none of them have been as well funded as Fred Goodwins….

Who wouldn’t be an angry old man when the party he loves and the values he holds have been shredded the way they have. But it’s the way you are and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
