Such a way with words

Skipper on ‘Margaret’:

But of course her weaknesses- as so often- were the reverse side of her strengths. That dominance bred an arrogance and hubris which blinded her to the world as it was. So she saw chatting up backbenches in the Tea-Room of the House as beneath her dignity- she felt the Cabinet, nay the whole party, owed their existence purely to her iron will and towering achievements. Taken to its limits this self-belief morphed into a profound species of unbalanced hectoring personality. The picture of her as a whisky guzzling, angrily reproachful, mad old bint was ultimately highly believable.

  1. Mrs K says:

You mean to say you actually wasted and hour and a half on watching what you lived through.
Your mad. Next thing is ‘state funeral’ grrrrrrr

Actually, Mrs K. I haven’t… yet. Thursday night is Jazz night, but I have recorded it and will definitely watch it. Anything which brings flooding back memories of the Tories bringing down Thatcher brings joy to my heart. It’s far better than those Attenborough programmes where the lions stalk, kill and tear lumps of some ungulate mammal.
Believe me, I’ll enjoy the funeral too.

  3. We can’t be far from polishing the old grave dancing shoes. I live in hope…which is more than I did during her reign.

I worry even more ( with Thatcher out of the picture now: at least not in “Power”) that we have MPs like Nadine Dorries ( Mid Bedfordshire) who thinks Margaret is wonderful and Jesus is her “Hero” the fact that this particular MP is still around is cause for great concern when you read back ( try it readers ) from 2005 and read her Blogs.
A number of people have emailed me and said that anything they say about Dorries is NOT published by the Tory blog site mm !!
