Speaker Lenthall asserted the supremacy of the house against the forces of the state. Like it or not, the Police force answer to the state.
As an elected MP, I would like very much to hear your considered views over which is supreme – the House of Commons or the Executive, and how Members of the House of Commons (from both sides) can be protected from abuse of power by the executive.

I know your views are partisan, and I respect that – but many people feel that this is a matter above politics. And the Police, no matter good they are, cannot be.
It depends upon whether you believe we should have a political police force working for the government. I believe on operational matters they should be accountable for what they do – shooting innocent Brazilians, for instance – but that the government should set overall policy and not interfere in operations.
So yes, I believe they should answer to the state – but not be directed by it.
By the way, I’m not an elected MP, nor have I ever harboured a desire to be one.

Daily Pundit post very good. I rather suspected there was more to this story than we had so far been told. The police are not unfamiliar with leaks and, whilst I am as suspicious as the next person of them, I don’t think they would have gone in without some other evidence not yet in the public domain.
