“I think that a closer association between Aston Villa and the city of Birmingham could help boost Birmingham’s profile across the world.”
What a complete muppet. We should really hope the hapless Whitby makes this one of his party’s election pledges in future.

What else is he suggesting, “Liverpool Everton FC”? or Arsenal to call themselves “North London just off the Holloway Road FC”? or “West Bromwich Albion very near Birmingham FC”?
Villa would do so much better if they changed their name to ‘West Bromwich Albion Reserves’.
Luke Moore, for instance, Paul? Do Villa actually have any WBA reserves other than the 9 million pound centre half recently selected in the England squad?
Sounds like a good guy to me.
I think we should call Birmingham, Aston much better brand name. Greater Aston seems OK we might even rope in Sandwell and the black country. Whatever next?
Hmm. Hasn’t Whitby got better things to be doing? He could look at the state of child protection in his city, for example (from personal experience, I can say that it is stretched to say the least)
