George Galloway on Hugo Chavez in The Guardian: These orchestrated attacks on Chávez are a travesty.
Mark Steel on James Cameron’s (not David Cameron as deliciously misreported by Paul Burgin – sadly changed now) discovery of Jesus’ bones:
“What was Helen Mirren talking about, thanking the Queen on the grounds that without her, the Oscar-winning portrayal of the Queen wouldn’t have been possible? By that logic, Forrest Whittaker should have said, “But most of all I’d like to thank Idi Amin, as without his regime of systematic mass murder and cannibalism this film could never have been made. Cheers, Idi, and let’s stir-fry a rebel in your honour.”
The Express & Star reports that Council tax to rise by 3.9% in Walsall and a “disgruntled man” was ejected from the public gallery. Mr Disgruntled blogs about his experience.

Dem bones, dem bones, dem dry bones… I am surprised that my dog Rocky didn’t find them first. As for David Cameron, I think trying to find his policies is proving more difficult.
BTW, I have decided to link you to my blog http://prisonersvoice.blogspot.com seeing as your’s has almost become like a second home to me.

Bloody hell kid – me in the same post as all these great rebels!
Except of course that George is just a self publicing, self agrandising complete tithead and shouldn’t in anyway be taken seriously.
Whereas Hugo Chavez is making real changes for the better.
Susan… try the sidebar… about 9 down in the Left links… where else do you want me to put it?
I read GG’s article today. I’m surprised Labour leadership haven’t had more to say about the oil deal.
I’m not anti-Chavez, given the social and economic circumstances of Venezela nationalism of the oil industry might be a good thing. A few things bother me however.
Firstly Livingstone is employing £150k a year cronies who are going to be flown out on a jolly at London taxpayers expense. The bus discounts are only for those on income support who most as likely to do not pay council tax. Therefore the London taxpayer is losing out on the deal.
Secondly Venezela has poverty. the difference between the market price and agreed price of this volume of oil could have been used to provide scholarships for Venezelan students to study in cities like London and provide a more sustainable development. There would have been plenty left over to hire in foreign help in the short-term.
Thirdy, and most worryingly, GG asserts ‘This month I watched … Russian helicopters and brand new Mirage and Sukhoi fighter bombers … [Chavez] has privately pledged to halt oil exports to the US in the event of aggression against Iran.’ An army of helicoptors of 4th generation fighter bombers will last no more than a day or two against a few dozen 5th Generation F-22 Raptors. This is a dnagerous game, egged on by Iran, egged on by Russia with the sole aim of embarrassing the USA. Middle-East peace is best for everyone, except the net-exporters of oil; Russia, Iran and Venezela.
