Warm tributes paid to Pinochet.

In addition to Baroness Hardnose expressing her sadness at the death of the murderous Chiliean dictator, there were also warm tributes paid here, here, here, here, here, and here.

    Mick – way back in the days of big records I used to have an album of Jara’s songs… nowadays I’ve only got a CD of Christy Moore singing about him.

    Bob, you’re right, Pinchet was a murderous dictator. I trust you will make the same observation about Castro when that man leaves this world as well.

    Yeah, Thatcher being best buddies with a murdering tyrant was a terrible disgrace to this country. A bit like Nl;air being best buddies with the tyrant and war criminal Bush.

    As murdering tyrants go – Pinochet barely rates a place in the top 50 tyrants league – ( 3,000 – 10,000 deaths ) which of course is totally barbaric.
    Where would Blair, Bush, Thatcher appear in that league?

    When Jack Straw tried to hold the vile Gen P. I thought that this was a great move and proved the credentials of brave “new” Labour. I was disappointed when the government bowed to American pressure (step forward Henry Kissinger?). In the light of subsequent events I really shouldn’t have been surprised. That release was, for me, the beginning of the end of Labour’s credibility as a principled government.

    hahahaha. God, what 6th form history book did you read?
    Castro – free health care, constant opposition to US skulduggery, survivor of numerous assasination attempts, ousting corrupt and mendacious president. Bit too communist for your liking no doubt.
    Pinochet – murdering git. Oh, but helped us get the Falklands back.
    Did you know Reagan used a number of underhand ways to screw Britain over the Falklands War? His CIA mob carried out some very unsavoury practices. Check the Christic Insitute for more information.
    I’m guessing when Thatcher dies, the queue to dance on her grave will be much longer than when Castro dies.
