Mayor or no Mayor?

The current Leader of the Labour Party thinks Birmingham needs a directly elected Mayor. It would appear that Labour Party members are somewhat less than enthusiastic about the proposal. As Tony Blair is not likely to be Party Leader for very much longer, perhaps the candidates for the Party Leader and Deputy Leader positions would like to tell people in this region where they stand on this issue in order to assist them when they are trying to decide who to vote for.

Would that by any chance be the same Tony Blair that failed to secure a nomination as a propective Councillor representing the Labour Party in the London Borough of Hackney many moons ago?

So do you think Sandwell should have a mayor voted for by everybody? If so would you be a candidate? I can see you with the bling. Margaret Macklin

Half!! A half!! Actually I’ve just had my blood pressure read at an NHS open day and the doctor turned white when he saw the reading… which considering he was afro-carribbean was not encouraging, so I’d better make it a freshly squeezed orange juice.
Margaret, the answer to your first question is no, so the answer to the second is also…. no!
