Luke Akehurst thinks his little world is divided into quitters, plotters, and fighters. No prizes for guessing which camp Luke heroically places himself at the head of.
Well, I've been around the Labour movement and the Labour Party longer than Luke, so I'm no quitter. I can't be arsed to spend my waking hours like Luke working out which of my comrades is really my enemy... so I'm no plotter either. And I don't need any lectures from Luke about knocking on doors, or delivering leaflets, sending out e-bulletins, canvassing, nor getting out the vote.
I don't want an NEC member who can't think for themselves, and who thinks every utterance from the Party leadership has to be swallowed whole. Nor do I think a candidate for the Labour Party National Executive Committee should be devoting their energies towards attacking other members of the Labour Party who hold different perspectives than they do. That's what you do when your own ideas are bankrupt. Unlike Luke Akehurst here, and here, and here, and here... and that is just this week!
Anyone who someone who is so sectarian, negative and divisive is not fit to be a member of our NEC.

No mention of that wonderfully open, transparent and democratic of organisations, Labour First then Bob. No invite again to their Christmas party this year, what are we doing wrong? I was under the impression that sectarianism, negativity and divisiveness were on the job spec for Labour First. It's all the Lefts fault again.
It reminds me a bit of student conversations about who was more left wing than whom, who was 'sound', etc. To an interested if somewhat detached long standing member (30 years) it all sounds incredibly inward looking.
On the other hand the comments made by the Compass gen sec, if reported accurately, seem somewhat impolitic.
I really have no time for infighting - we've got an election coming up next year and the enemy is over there, not in our own lines.

Spot on Hack.
newmania, of course he knows my MP. They are both in Labour First, and Luke's partner works for John Spellar. But I am not in any Party cliques, and I don't work for John Spellar. In fact, John Spellar is supposed to work for me, and most of the time he does it quite well, actually... but I don't call him 'in to the headmaster's study' when I disagree with him either.
