Iain Dale is a liar   » Permalink  |  TrackBack (0)

Iain Dale berates me for not mentioning the fact that the Leader of Sandwell has stood down following allegations of theft. He then refers to this piece of froth on ConservativeHome (errm, the Council hasn't proposed a Gypsy awareness month and didn't cancel the St George's day Parade - but don't let silly things like facts get in the way of a good smear story).

Well, let's nail the lie that I "fail to mention anywhere on his blog the fact that the Labour leader of the council on which he serves has been charged with theft today." As so much of what Dale writes, this is just simply a lie. I had mentioned it in the comments to the previous story, where I pointed out that the Council Leader was innocent until proven guilty. I haven't written anything else, because like Dale and the rest of the media... I don't know any more than that.

But... to be accused of trying to deflect attention away from the story, by a man who acts as a publicist for a Polish fascist sympathiser and gay basher... or gives us a simpering defence for not offering any criticism of a man who was trousering public money... is just a little bit rich.

The lie, numbskull, was saying that I had not mentioned it anywhere on my blog.

Are all you Tories so slow witted?

Sadly,Dale appears to be coming a semi-regular fixture on my favourite radio station- 5 live .He promotes himself as some sort of independently minded Tory. I do wish they'd actually look at the shite on his blog before considering his in-depth cutting 'opinions'.

I suspect Mr. Dale could usefully give us his opinion of goings on at the London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority (precis: one member suspended as a councillor for using public money intended for charity to buy dresses but who is nevertheless suitable for the position of Deputy Chair, another suspended as a councillor for revealing confidential details of a council land deal in order to discredit the Lib Dems, another defecting from Labour to the Tories after being deselected, a session suspended after an unedifying public row between the taxi-loving Tory Chairman and a Labour member involving the phrase 'odious toad').

It's not really a great advert for putting the Tories in charge, I have to say. The relevance here is that the councillor suspended for buying dresses was subsequently defended by the Mayor with the 'innocent until proven guilty line' although her current status as far as I can see is 'guilty but appealing against it'.

That's just your opinion, which isn't worth much. The lie is a fact. Get back to your comics now.

To call Iain Dale a liar is to alledge deceit, that he knew the truth and misrepresented it.

Considering that your only point to back this up is that "you mentioned it somewhere in the comments" - it's far more likely that Iain Dale hadn't read it. After all, who reads every single comment to a blog post?

Therefore you've shown that Iain Dale is mistaken when he said you hadn't mentioned it "anywhere" on your blog, you haven't shown him to be a liar.

John,

That would be reasonable if what I had written had been six or seven posts earlier, or a couple of days earlier, but it was in the comments on the afternoon that the arrest became public.

Ok, I accept then that it was not a deliberate lie, and I apologise (although there are lots of people with evidence that Dale is a liar and a cheat of the first order).

It was, however, the comment of a small-minded, ignorant bigot who hadn't bothered to check his facts.

The bit I find amusing is Iain's view that the only people up in arms over mass immigration are disaffected Labour voters who all run to the BNP for help.

Naturally, it should follow that Conservatives don't give a monkeys about mass Immigration, and leave such troublesome incidences to their Nazi friends in their exclusive EU club.

They loved the rise of Hitler and they love what's going on now.
They'll deny all knowledge soon though, that sort always do.
