Tim Worstall doesn't think David Cameron is the Messiah. You're right, Tim, he's not, he's a very naughty boy!

And there was me thinking Obama was supposed to be the Messiah. There can't be two Messiahs at the same time, can there?

Frankly, anyone who believes that any politician is a "Messiah" deserves all the disappointments they're going to get.

Cameron achieves the not inconsiderable task of making Tony Blair look sincere. I predict, and I'll return to confirm or eat humble pie, that within two years of a Cameron government we will see record negative poll ratings for a British PM. While New Labour was obsessed with PR and spin Cameron is a 'real' PR man, it's the only real job he's ever had and he's still doing it.The wheels will come off and it will be ugly.

Cameron doesn't have a clue about how to handle the economy. Johann Hari put it well in a recent article:

'So why is Cameron getting away with it? Partly, of course, it is due to a media that has an allergy to arguments that take more than 30 seconds to explain and a bias to the Tories. But it is also due to a failure by Labour and the Lib Dems. Instead of standing up for the idea of a debt-funded stimulus to get us through the recession, they have panicked and accepted the bogus Tory framing. They have been reduced to whimpering: we do need cuts now, only we'll be a little nicer in the way we do it. It has been a disaster. The British people are not having the looming Cameron slasher flick explained to them: we will only grasp the plot once the film has begun.'

Oh how the irony doth bleed from every atom of that post. It will be a cold day in Hell when I turn to Johann Hari for economics (or anything else).

This would be the same Johann Hari who did a bleat-piece on Somali pirates/murderers about three minutes before they trousered a $2 million ransom.

Excuse me while I vomit into a bucket.

Yeah, I need to get up to speed on the situation on the Middle East.

Amy Winehouse lives a few miles away - I'll just pop round and ask her.
