A little cup of cheer   » Permalink  |  TrackBack (0)

I had rather too much to drink last night, (celebrating a friend's birthday, not toasting good riddance to Purnell, Flint, Blears and co.) which has left me feeling a little delicate today. I was cheered up this morning watching Mandelson savage Andrew Marr for breakfast. And then I looked at Mike Smithson's Political Betting and saw his suggestion that Charles Clarke might be our next Prime Minister... which gave me an even bigger laugh. I suspect Charles Clarke has got a slightly better chance of becoming Prime Minister than I have... but only slightly.

I would refer you to the link, but the server hosting Political Betting seems to have died with embarrassment at the suggestion.

He said Brown got the cabinet he wanted. Had I been Andrew Marr I would have said , well if you are just going to tell infantile lies ,piss off, and we`ll play some music.
Anyway if Brown wasn’t nuts before, having Peter Benjamin Mandelson as his only friend should do the trick.

Bob, Mike did have a problem with some users on the site, perhaps its because he's been getting over a million hits a day, something your blog will never suffer from thats for sure.

Whether there is a stalking horse on depends on how much Brown can cow dissident Labour Mp's. The Labour party is irreversibly split, and heading for the wilderness, and not before time.

Any leader of the Labour party would be better than Gordo.(except Balls)

BTW he didnt say he would be the next leader, he said he might be the assassin, the two are not irrevocably linked

That is funny Bob, Charles Clarke! He of the university top-up fees, erosion of jury trials, ID cards and many other progressive policies.

Whatever next? Celebrity failed business men dressed in ermine to advise the government?? As if!

Savaging Andrew Marr is like an own-goal, he's one of the biggest Labour cheerleaders on the BBC (and that's saying something ...).

Marr's show should typically carry the message "that was a Party Political Broadcast on behalf of the Labour Party".

Godzilla....

"To that end, I put a small bet on Clarke to be Next PM at 79/1 over the weekend..."

I'll be very surprised if he manages to sell that bet on.

I missed it. I went as soon as Andrew Marr went to Vague. Suddenly, walking the dog seemed like a more interesting option...

Bob
That's a covering bet, if it comes off Hallelujah, but I dont think Mike seriously thinks Clarke will win.. would you at 79/1 ???

No... I don't think he seriously expects it either. However, it still seems like a waste of money. I wouldn't put a tenner on Charles Clarke as next PM at 1,000 to 1.

I do not know he might be the only one left in Labour, I'd rather have Clark then say Flint Purnell or the other New labour objects.

I wonder what Job Flint wanted perhaps the DWP so she could chase Council house people, or perhaps leader of Labour. Maggie Thatcher mark 2.
