Out of Touch?   » Permalink  |  TrackBack (0)

I would just like to place on record:

I have never seen a single episode of Dr. Who.

I don't care who the last Dr Who was, or the current one, or who has been selected to play the next one nor which actor was the best Dr Who in the last fifty years. So to those people I brush into over the next week and who might wish to engage with me in their fascination for the deeds of the good Doctor... I don't care, I'm not interested, go and pester someone else. OK!

In addition to which, I'm proud to say, I've never seen a single episode of Star Trek, Celebrity Come Dancing, X Factor or Eastenders.

Finally, someone else admits it!

The funny thing is, I don't watch any of the above, or anything apart from University Challenge, but I actually know quite a lot about them because they are in the MSM relentlessly.

Before Murdoch, newspapers didn't go anywhere near this celebrity shite, & I am not aware of anyone having mourned the loss.

Better to spend your leisure time blogging & maybe doing the odd bit of reading. I've tried watching TV whilst having my tea, but even programmes that were OK like shite about nature & battles couldn't keep me from jumping out of my chair & going to do something more useful as soon as I'd finished.

How remarkable Bob, you've managed to avoid seeing episodes of TV programmes that have been running for a total of about 118 years. Presumably the next time some senior high court judge or crusty old Tory buffer is embarrassed in the press for having to have it explained to them that The Beatles were 'a popular beat combo' or the like, you will be thinking "There but for the grace of God..."?

Mr Jolly, don't mistake 'never having seen them' with 'never having heard of them'. I think I'm pretty much aware of exactly what these programmes are... and that's exactly why I've never seen them.

I thought it was a prerequisite for a Labour politician to be "down with the the yoof" these days. Are your days numbered? I do hope so.

And politicians wonder why they're seen as out of touch! ;)

As we share the same non viewing tastes, I would quite happily share a cell with you and there wouldn't be any fight over the remote control for the TV.

BTW, I had a thought last night. I watched a couple of good films on the BBC. They almost made me think if the TV licence was a reasonable price I'd buy one.

"THRIVING pub chain JD Wetherspoon is to slash prices on some food and drinks – offering a pint of beer for less than £1.

The move, which begins on Monday, is in response to the credit crunch and takes the cost of a pint back to 1989 prices".

Perhaps, they should roll back the price of a TV licence to say £50?

Believe me I've seen the lot with grandkids who watch everything including the crap on Emmerdale.

Bob,
Is the reason that you have never seen an episode of Dr Who, because you have always been hiding behind the sofa, too terrified to look ?
All good wishes for the new year.

No, YOD. It was always on Saturday tea time when I was a kid... which meant I was either on the way back from the match, or listening to Sports report. And anyway, I don't go for all that science fiction crap.

A good year to you and Mrs Yod, comrade, I trust we will meet next week.
