I've said on a number of occasions on this blog that one of the only front bench Tories to impress has been the Shadow Health Secretary Andrew Lansley. I know from talking to people in the NHS that they are impressed by his knowledge and commitment to the NHS.
Notwithstanding that though, it would appear Lansley is one of those moonlighting Tories who doesn't feel confident enough that they will form the next Government, and therefore doesn't want to give up his quarter-of-a-million smackers a year outside earnings. I suppose when he trousers that sort of money for 'consultancies' it is not surprising that he comes out with the sort of nonsense like "recession could be good for poor people" that Lansley upset his Leader by blurting out a few weeks ago.
