"Sleaze" is hardly the right word. At least not for an opposition MP doing his job in trying to hold a lying, manipulative government to account. That the police are being used to hunt down those who dare to leak information embarrassing to the ruling party is the real shocker here. But then to an old Stalinist like you, that probably seems right and proper.

We have now reached third world status where opposition politicians are arrested on very dubious grounds. Parallels with Zimbabwe, amongst others, are apparent.
Please remember Mr Piper your party will not be power forever, and unless you repeal this law it will be available for use by future governments.

You stupid stupid man. As a Parliamentarian you should be screaming from the roof tops, but you are just cheering on your authoritarian Government. So many men have died for so many centuries for our Liberties, and you call it sleaze ?
Guthrum, I'm afraid it is you who are stupid. I'm not a parliamentarian. Do you know why this man was arrested? No, I thought not, but don't let that stop you giving an expert opinion.
Curbishley.... what 'dubious' grounds? Please share your knowledge with us. And Tom Paine.... remember when Thatcher had Sarah Tisdall jailed for embarrassing Heseltine? Or Clive Ponting prosecuted by the Thatcher regime for passing embarrassing information on the Belgrano sinking to Tam Dayell.
Which law was that.... Curbishley?

"remember when Thatcher had Sarah Tisdall jailed for embarrassing Heseltine? Or Clive Ponting prosecuted by the Thatcher regime for passing embarrassing information on the Belgrano sinking to Tam Dayell."
So Bob, did you agree with the arrest of Sarah Tisdall for political reasons? Assuming you did not, why do you approve of this arrest? Was Tam Dayell arrested?
Do you really consider publishing FACTS unfavourable to the government to be 'sleaze'? Do you actually understand the English language?
Do you realise that had the Tories actually acted like this when they were last in power that a number of members of the current 'government' including the dear leader would have been arrested in the 1990s???
I always thought you were an idiot, this post confirms it.

Sarah Tisdall and Ponting were not shadow cabinet ministers.
Mr Piper it truly frightens me that you appear to see nothing wrong here. I could give chapter and verse about Robin Cook and the leaks he received.
I could point out that the son of a Labour Peer Robert Peston was given, and subsequently published, highly sensitive financial information.
It was reported this morning that Boris Johnson and Cameron were given advance warning the arrest was to be made, are we truly expected to believe that the Home Secretary wasn't informed? or Brown.
While we're at it how appropiate the Devils Whore is currently being screened, shame the speaker rolled over to allow an MPs office to be searched.
I can understand being partisan in case Nick Brown monitors your blog but you must have a shiver go down your spine at what happened yesterday.
You are flailing and squirming here and rightly so. You need to retract the word "sleaze" if you are to hold your head up again. In what sense does Green stand accused of "sleaze?" Only you are using this word and you clearly know nothing about it except that it has proved useful to damage your political enemies in the past. Look it up, Bob.
Curbishley, you simply confirm the fact that you are an idiot.
If the Home Secretary had known and authorised the arrest it would be outrageous, and I think she should resign. It is not the job of the Home Secretary, who should set policy, to intervene in operational police matters.
