George Osborne was fighting for his reputation last night after it was claimed that he was involved in detailed talks about a donation to the Conservative Party through a company controlled by the Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska.
Well, if that is his reputation as a sleazy little rich kid spiv.... I think he's doing a bloody good job too!
Like the BBC, you seem desperate to ignore the fact that Osborne has broken no rules, unlike Mandelson who clearly abused his power as EU Trade Commissioner with dealing with Oleg.
Osborne obviously created this situation for himself by dishing the dirt on Mandelson, but for someone to receive such media attention for a donation that never happened is ridiculous.
