Two years in prison for 'showing disrespect to the Monarchy'? All those libertarian Tory bloggers who think they live in a police state because there are too many speed cameras want to reflect on what life is like in a real police state. At least you can't get banged-up here for suggesting Prince Charles is off his rocker.
I was in Morocco in the early 1970's when there were a couple of assasination attempts on Hassan II, the father of the current King of Morocco. Hassan was a brutal bastard if ever there was one, and his war against the Saharawi in occupied Western Sahara exposed the despotic nature of his regime. The current King, Mohammed VI, is supposed to be a 'reforming King' i.e. he consults some hand-picked Ministers before his decisions are taken, and there was even some half-baked nonsense about Morocco joining the EU. Some bloody reformer, eh?
I suppose I better not go back to Essaouira in a hurry.
Yes we are a very long way away from living in a state like Morocco, thank fully. This does not, however, mean that highlighting abuses and arguing for the extension of civil liberties is not an action of paramount importance.

Just because we don't live in an African Islamic totalitarian state doesn't mean that our Liberties aren't being eroded at a frightening rate. Do you want to sit back and wait until we are like Morocco before doing anything about it?

Newmania, have you got some sort of attention deficit disorder? I told you, I've been soaking up the sun for the last 2 weeks whilst sad geeks like you shuffle about in the rain. I'll try to get back next week so you can look forward to more regular postings.

"libertarian Tory bloggers who think" - some mistake surely?!
