I caught Clegg on Andrew Marr this morning coming over all Cameron-lite. A whole series of measures based around the Tory public sector spending cuts agenda (hasn't cutting 'bureaucracy' in the public sector been the promise of every Government since Wilson?). As Marr correctly identified, Clegg is preparing the ground for a Tory-Liberal coalition after the election, and the poor bloody Liberal infantry are just going to have to like it or lump it.
I can't see the sandle-wearing wing of the Lib Dems being entirely happy with that prospect. I wonder if the Greens will find an influx of environmentally friendly recruits who are used to howling vainly at the moon?
They're not happy about it, according to today's paper. Clegg is coming under attack for worrying about tax cuts when everyone else is worrying about more important issues - like the collapse of the world economy, for example.
