RIP Jimmy   » Permalink  |  TrackBack (0)

images33.jpeg Jimmy Sirrel who died last week was a proper football man.

Not a billionaire Russian/UAE/USA gold-dripped playboy looking for a new plaything, shifting players and managers around as if they were subbuteo toys. Not for Jimmy the gold bracelets and flash hummers. Not for Jimmy the cheating, the theatrical diving, getting stretchered off and sprinting back on 20 seconds later. More a cold sponge and bloody hard work. As Alex Ferguson, his long-time friend said,

"I'd be confident in Jimmy Sirrel managing any team I supported, and that would be the general opinion from all the managers in the game."
Jimmy was a proper football man... and that will be how he would want to be remembered.

Absolutely spot on. As you say a 'proper' manager who produced some bloody good sides in the 70's and 80's.

Not to many left like him, a few others but money makes the world go around, and crash.
