There are some things you know are just tosh! Dangerous dogs, cones hotlines, marching yobs to the cashpoint... I'm sure everyone can come up with their own list.
One of my criticisms of New Labour has been the desire of Ministers to grab cheap headlines with populist nonsense, which you know will be dead in the water before the vinegar has dried on the chip paper.
David Davis. Now that name rings a bell. Who was he again?

I know a guy who regularly stops me that he is a die hard Labour supporter but hasn't voted for them for 35 years 'cos they're all pansies and crooks'.
He tells me that if anyone EVER has the guts to burgle his house or anyone's house he is walking past, he would pull out his meat cleaver and chop them up into little pieces.
He also informs me that society is broken because no-one is prepeared to 'have a go'.
He would burn anyone and everyone alive if ever they harmed any of his children and burn their (innocent) family alive in the process.
If Dominic Grieve can find me anyone who has a longer criminal record than this man, I will desist from criticism. If he can find me anyone who hasn't 'screwed the social' more than this man, I will refrain from comment.
If he he can find children who are bigger bunch of b*******s than his, I will vote Conservative at the next outing.
It actually seems quite sensible to me, & I'm not given to agreeing with Tories.
Only today, I observed yet another litter lout acting as if he had the right to ruin the environment for the rest of us. I didn't confront him, though I know I should have.
Partly through legislation, but even more so by changes in social attitudes, petty crime can become as unacceptable as drink-driving currently is, so then littering etc will be solidly clamped down on by everyone except the usual libertarian tits.

I know what you mean but as a part of new tone in which the victim and not the criminal is the one we all worry about it might make sense.
