KP now becomes the first England captain to sport a tattoo since Colin Cowdrey who, famously, had an image of Janis Joplin tattooed onto his left buttock after a monumental rum and ganga session in the West Indies on the 1967/68 tour.

My father has a superb tatoo from the army ( Glorious careeer as bus driver in Egypt). Jim Callaghan had a tramp stamp , which he hid (did you tell me that ?)
I was saved from getting mark by my brother who told me just in time it was pointless now every pussy in a merchant bank has them, or a piercing.
The recent social history of the tatooist has much to tell us
