Bob Piper has been a Labour Councillor for the Abbey
Ward in Sandwell, West Midlands, for nine years. He is a lifelong supporter of Aston Villa Football Club and a follower of Yorkshire County Cricket Club.
The views expressed here are mine in a personal capacity, not those of the Labour Party, Sandwell MBC, Aston Villa or Yorkshire County Cricket Club. Get it! Mine... just mine!
There's a row going on down in Brum over the staff usage of the interweb. Apparently the Tory controlled Council allow staff to use their computers to surf the internet to view personal content between the hours of 12-2pm if they are on a lunch break. However, whilst City Council Officers are welcome to visit sites such as those hosted by my good friend and comrade David Hallam, they are not entitled to engage in a bit of devil worshipping or atheism, because the Tory spy-in-the-box is watching over them.
Discrimination... we cry! Freedom for devil worshippers!

Bob,
Your site is blocked at school. It does allow me to email and ask for sites to be unblocked if I can provide justification. Have you any thoughts about why the good pupils and staff of Birmingham's schools should be allowed access?
Off topic; your headline "There will NOT be a Labour Leadership challenge" is beginning to look like one of those old tattered regimental colours you see hanging up in cathedrals. However, I have every faith, after all it's only three days old!
John, I've no idea why it is banned. It must be the state of some of the commenters...
Talking of which... David, is there money where your mouth is? I could do with a bit of holiday spending, and it would make you looking wrong all the sweeter.
1) I have no evidence that between 12 and 2 each weekday my website is invaded by hoardes of Birmingham City Council employees looking up my next preaching appointmeents.
2) It is s good rule of thumb that our internet search and access activities are constantly under observation.
No, no, Bob, you are the Seer, I am merely the follower!
Incidentally, and not that it's worth anything, but I pray to the Intelligent Designer nightly to keep poor old 'Boxer Broon' in harness until 2010. I have warned 'Dim Dave' and his accolytes that the last thing they want is this steaming pile of economic ordure on their plate any earlier than they have to. Not that they listen. Like you, I am a prophet lost in the wilderness!
What a disgrace. Who on earth in this day and age thinks it's appropriate to try and stamp out atheism? Imagine the fury and reaction from newspapers if someone banned Christian or Hindu websites!
