Don't follow leaders, watch the parking meters...   » Permalink  |  TrackBack (0)

I returned last night (five hours late due to the hopeless inefficiency of Atlas Blue airlines) and wearily worked my way through the small mountain of post that had built up. Including, oh what excitement, the Labour Party NEC elections. There was a time when I was delusional enough to think that these elections actually mattered. A time when you imagined the NEC held the PLP to account and its constituency reps were there to be the voice of Labour activists in the country. Fool.

So, you don't need to read the election addresses and all the promises they make, there is an easy shorthand. Anyone who has the support of Luke Akehurst isn't going to get my vote. Simple. So I'll be voting for Mohammed Azam, Ann Black, Peter Kenyon, Ellie Reeves, Christine Shawcroft and Peter Willsman.... for what it's worth.

You mean you know a 'cheap efficient airline' although from what I read the more expensive ones don't seem to be much different.

As a non-flyer for 47 years - I like to think of all the hours I have not spent in an airport, hanging around. Leisurely travel - taking in the sites, meeting non-grumpy people. It lifts my spirits just taking friends to the airport.

I find Lukes comments very helpful in deciding who are Labour in name only.

Neeless to say Bob I will not be supporting your list.

newmania, bobby D wrote this one just for you...

"Idiot wind, blowing every time you move your mouth,
Blowing down the backroads headin' south.
Idiot wind, blowing every time you move your teeth,
You're an idiot, babe.
It's a wonder that you still know how to breathe."

Mrs k... Two birds with one stone... I'll drop you a line next time I'm going... it will save on the airport car parking and make you happy at the same time!

Yes, that caused me some concern when I realised it too, Luke. I fail to see how she fits the reactionary Labour First profile though.

Reactionary? Have you forgotten your last post on Osama?

The bit where you took a pop at the local Moroccan yoof and chucked in a few Osama gags for good measure. The Major would be proud.

Oh, sorry if I upset the sensibilities of the local Moroccan thieving classes. The Bin Laden 'gag' was actually 'a pop' (as you like to call it) at the inability of the Moroccan police to take the theft seriously. However, they have had bomb attacks from Al-Qaeda and they do take them seriously. I don't normally have to spell these things out for people, but for you I'll make an exception. You may be a po faced twat who doesn't get the point, but that doesn't make me reactionary, it just makes you look a dick.

Congratulations. To place the conflicting nouns 'twat' and 'dick' in the same sentence is a rare literary feat.

For them not to refer to newmania is sensational. Well done.
