Little Alan Duncan was one of the guests on the Andrew Marr programme this morning, which was almost an inducement to switch off instantly. However, I was glad I didn't because I would have missed the excellent bit during the newspaper review when the Daily Mail's Peter Oborne revealed that the smarmy Tory front bencher had buttonholed Marr in the Green Room before the programme to ask him not to raise any embarrassing questions about whether or not he declared donations and alleged business connections with Serbia.
If Duncan was angry when he squirmed in his boxers later in the programme... Marr was absolutely bloody furious. "We don't discuss here what is said in the Green Room" he said cutting Oborne off through gritted teeth. Angry, I suspect, not so much about what was said about Duncan, but about Oborne revealing the sort of cosy conspiracies these politicians engage in with the media.
Respect to Oborne - not something I'd normally advocate but on this occasion..
That woman journo - Marianne? looked a bit taken aback too. Didn't she used to support Blair, before she was seduced by Cameron's charms and jumped ship? She didn't look too happy that a Tory was being openly nailed for perhaps being 'evasive' with the truth. Though I'd bet money she won't do a column on it.
I tell you Bob, these Tories are walking on water now, no matter how sleazy and nasty.
