Bob Piper has been a Labour Councillor for the Abbey
Ward in Sandwell, West Midlands, for nine years. He is a lifelong supporter of Aston Villa Football Club and a follower of Yorkshire County Cricket Club.
The views expressed here are mine in a personal capacity, not those of the Labour Party, Sandwell MBC, Aston Villa or Yorkshire County Cricket Club. Get it! Mine... just mine!
Ok... it was late when he posted it. Ok, he's pissed off with the Labour Party, but this is without doubt the biggest load of utter drivel I have read for a long time, on so many levels. Sunny at Pickled Politics on It's time for brown people to vote Tory. Here's a flavour:
Saying th... given that New Labour wants to extend anti-terrorism legislation until every brown person in the country is locked up until proven innocent (or once the police can be bothered to let you out), it makes more sense for brown and black people, who will overwhelmingly face the brunt of this police-state legislation, to vote Conservative.
Perhaps instead, it's time for 'brown people' to say to those who purport to talk on behalf of their 'community' (which is the usual way people talk about 'brown people' when they want to imply that they have a single cohesive ideology or political outlook) .... stop talking patronising crap.
Time to move the Liberal Conspiracy out of the left wing links. To those who warned me, you were right, I was wrong. Ok.
It was a silly post but no more so than all the idiotic nonsense ahead of the Mayoral elections that urged 'ethnic voters' to vote Ken because of some stupid jokes made by Boris - it's patronising in the extreme.
The idea that black or white people vote one way all the time or that rich or poor people like certain parties is nonsense. It's why I find Labour politicians determination to associate their party with poor people deeply distasteful...
One of the problems in making sweeping judgements like this is that it assumes that the Tories would be better. They won't be, despite what they say. Just on stop and search alone, they would abolish the need for the copper on the beat to complete the small receipt they're currently required to provide those who are stopped and searched. In other words, the police under Cameron would be free to stop anybody, at any time, and without any accountability for their actions. Who do the police stop and search most? Yes, black and brown people.
Labour`s history of exploiting racial resentment and stoking it up recently in London and Crewe is nothing to be proud of . Sunny is in fact a dippy left winger so I would not worry many others , however are tired of being branded losers excluded from the main stream by Labour multi-cultural and victim policies.
There has been far more thoughtful stuff on this in the New Statesman for example. The moment you hear that immigrant communites are notably more upwardly mobile than their white contemporaries is the moment you know Labour`s grip was never going to last.
Furthermore the always scurrilous lie that Conservatives are racist because they worry about uncontrolled immigration, becomes perverse when ethnic minorites agree
I hold the wide progressive constituency dircetly responisble for the knife crime epidemic and gang culture of London and the fact that young black men today perform, worse than their grandfathers did , and they did face real racism.
As you may know the fastest growing group in the UK is mixed race. Our mixed race family would no more judge someone by skin pigment than by nose length but how this ever made you a socialist is utterly mysterious to me.
I can certainly understand why any Muslim would resent the prospect of being incarcerated by the error strewn security forces of a calamitously error strewn administration.
Well Bob, I may be a stupid Welshman but I translate Newmaniac as saying :-
Dem Blacks make a point of Knife Crime etc.
Kick the N*****S out, even if they are of the third generation citizens
And it is all Labours fault for not introducing laws on "racial purity"
My late father was one of the first British troops to enter Belson - ("J" troop 146 Battery 91st/63rd Anti/Tank regiment) He had nightmares until his death in 2001 - Nuf Said ?
And the MSM pretend David Davis has principles !!!!!!!

OK, I'll have a go at it. Just so you know - up front - this is a translation, the translator has no view whatsoever on the content. [later on, I found out I lied about that bit.]
Labour are racists.
Sunny is brown and nobody in Labour likes him. They have their own brown chums, who Sunny, naturally hates.
British folk hate immigrants who are more successful than they are. That is a given fact 'cause I read it in the New Statesman. So we hate them, that's immigrants that is.
Obviously, as a consequence of wot I read in the New Statesman a counter revolution is imminent.
Tories love gypsies, jews and ethnics and anyone that says otherwise is a complete plonker.
It's Labour wot done it, knife crime an' that. 'Cause you lot mixed us all up together and we couldn't stop ourselves.
[Sorry, sarcasm filter off: mixed race people have no truck with any of this shite. Agreed.
I do see the 42 day legislation as being directed at ethnic minorities in an indiscriminate manner. I'd agree with that too]
Our friend would have been better off leaving out the foregrounding, which is actually a cry of betrayal, and left the arguement to the later points.
Bob, not sure how that makes me any less left-wing. And anyway, I'm not the only person writing for LC nor do I dictate a line to others.
Cassilis says: The idea that black or white people vote one way all the time or that rich or poor people like certain parties is nonsense.
But I think both of you mis-understand the nature of identity politics. We don't necessarily want identity politics anymore than we want class politics or gender politics. but as anyone on the left would point out, its the inequalities in the system that make people gravitate towards parties that address their concerns.
No?
So I'm not sure what I've said that is so controversial in itself. I'll explain this further in more because people on the blogosphere love skimming over something and then taking it to its logical extreme.
Sunny, it doesn't matter how you dress it up... given that New Labour wants to extend anti-terrorism legislation until every brown person in the country is locked up until proven innocent (or once the police can be bothered to let you out)...
is complete and utter crap, whether you skim read it or submit it to forensic examination. It is much more like I would expect from the likes of newmania than anyone who expects their arguments to be taken seriously.
As for Liberal Conspiracy's place on the Piper political spectrum, I tend not to leave those sites that include pieces advocating a Tory vote in the 'left' links.
