John McDonnell... or... Jack McConnell?

Is Jack McConnell, the former 1st Minister in Scotland going to try to oust Gordon Brown as Prime Minister?

Or is John McDonnell the left-wing Campaign Group member going to do the dirty deed?

Or could it be Billy Connolly? Or William McGonagall?

You're confused? Ask this bloke... he's an 'insider' you know.

The insider got the wrong end of the stick, he overheard a reference to Mr Ed the talking horse...

Iain Dale says this,
Iain Dale says that,
Iain Dale has got it wrong,
Iain Dale has got it right.

Surely there must be more interesting things for you to write about than Iain Dale!

Francis, if you think there are more interesting things to read elsewhere... you know what to do, don't you?

that's right... go read them. If you land here, you'll just have to put up with what I write... that's the way the whole thing works, you see.

Iain is a blogging 'expert' and it is only right that we minions of the 'boring left blogs' all look up to him, and scrutinise what pearls of wisdom he passes down to us.

Dear Mr Piper,

Thank you for the reply, as I sent my comment anonymously I didn’t really expect it to be posted let alone replied to.

Not sure if I am being oversensitive but I felt that your response was a tad aggressive, perhaps my comment appeared overly critical, if so then I apologise.

The reason I, and I expect others, look at your blog regularly is not because it is the MOST interesting thing to read but because it is at least one of the better political blogs. You do frequently offer properly thought out and reasoned comments

What I do not understand is the obsession with Iain Dale. I hope that your description of him as a blogging 'expert' was sarcasm but my concern is that this is a self perpetuating fallacy.

The continuous "Iain is stupid - go visit his website" method of directing readers away from your good blog to his lousy one is something I really find strange. Surely the more people visiting his site the more of an expert he can claim to be!

Dear Mr Piper,

Following my last comment post (re Iain Dale) with anonymous e-mail address, I thought I should really send my e-mail address in case you wanted to reply without cluttering up your blog with my posts.

Regards,

Francis

Francis, you are being oversensitive, I'm always aggressive like that, even when I think you're OK.

Also, it was a bit of sarcasm. I don't think Iain Dale is at all stupid, he strikes me as being quite a bright young fellah. Nor do I think his blog is lousy. In fact, although I detest some of his commenters, particularly the incredibly stupid Verity, I think Iain's blog is where a lot of political bloggers look for inspiration.

Which is probably why so many of us take the piss out of it.

Too many Mac's indeed - the Liebour government seems to be full to overflowing with North Briton's. Let the SNP have their referendum, let them declare independence and then we can send half of the cabinet back up north where they can bugger their own country up.
