Message to Iain... Who's the loser!   » Permalink  |  TrackBack (0)

A reader earlier this week questioned why I spend so much time hanging around Iain Dale's site taking the piss out of him. I must confess, I'm guilty, I do... but that's because he makes it so easy.

Take today, Iain sneers at Ken Livingstone, reminding him that he lost the election for Mayor and suggesting that "he's going to be like one of those sad defeated MPs who appear in the House of Commons after they have lost, as they can't quite bear to leave."

This might be mildly amusing if it wasn't written by a loser who couldn't get elected to the House of Commons, and then organised David Davis' campaign for leader so well that he snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.... and subsequently spends all his time hanging around Parliament bathing in the reflected glory of those that were elected.

Agreed. But his point still stands.

I'm not sure Iain can fathom the concept of a mayoral candidate who actually cares about London affairs.

Not only that, you're going to bluff a Shakespeare reference, at least check Wikipedia so you don't look like a moron:

Let's hope he doesn't have the effect of the ghost at Banquo's feast...

It was *Macbeth's* feast. Banquo *was* the ghost. What next? Dale declares Romeo and Juliet his favourite Shakespearean comedy?

I note that Iain Dale is today stating that Nick Clegg is a tad hypocritical. In the hypocrite stakes the sad loser is a happy winner.

I was there a few seats away from Ken. All the cameras were trained on him for the whole meeting waiting for an opportunity to picture him not smiling. The Tory assembly members and Barnbrook all took swipes at him for being there but after the show was over he went and chatted with them all. I think it reflected rather well on him despite what his majesty thinks. Can you imagine Boris having turned up if he'd lost the election?

You know what the difference is?

Ken thinks about London first.

I can't imagine Boris giving a concession speech fighting back the tears as Ken did. For the sake of London and the country, I hope Boris doesn't completely cock it up - hopefully the people supporting him will be able to guide him on the detail and leave him to the 'front man' job. Sadly, I think I'm going to be proved wrong.

I get the feeling that Iain is working very hard round the corner from where I work getting his magazine sorted out, seeing as it launches in a matter of weeks. Suggesting that he 'hangs around Parliament' is a bit low, seeing as he works in Westminster!

'A bit low'... you're having a laugh!

Glass houses and stones come to mind.
