Bob Piper has been a Labour Councillor for the Abbey
Ward in Sandwell, West Midlands, for nine years. He is a lifelong supporter of Aston Villa Football Club and a follower of Yorkshire County Cricket Club.
The views expressed here are mine in a personal capacity, not those of the Labour Party, Sandwell MBC, Aston Villa or Yorkshire County Cricket Club. Get it! Mine... just mine!
Last night on the BBC News paper review I criticised the Labour leaflets for bringing political campaigning into disrepute. Even Labour MP Sadiq Khan couldn't bring himself to disagree with me. If Labour win this by election, this kind of campaigning will become the norm, and Labour will roll it out all over the country. They must be stopped from doing so.
Hopi Sen offers a somewhat different perspective, including this leaflet from.... errrm, The Conservative Party!!!
He also quotes a Lib Dem leaflet for the benefit of those patronising Lib Dems who want to tell us the class war is over:
"Out of touch Teddy? Conservative millionaire Edward Timpson is looking increasingly out of touch with hard-working families people in Crewe and Nantwich. Edward's family business has a turnover of 100 million pounds - and his parents bought him a race horse for his 30th birthday"
It isn't from Crewe, if you follow the link to Hopi sen you will see that this pre-dates Labour's Crewe campaign. The leaflet is from the brent by-election.
See... the nasty party have been at this 'personal attack' thing for years./ Just because they never won one, doesn't mean they never used dirty tactics.
Labours Toffs has been so silly, if you look back through the ages Labour has it's fair share of Toffs, or do we really need a class war which will end up with people looking at the BNP.
Why not get politic back onto real policies, and real help, look in Wales we have had a campaign with a Union to get asylum seekers medical care, whats the use of allowing people with HIV Hep C and all the rest to roam the streets ill. Today all asylum seekers in Wales will get free NHS treatment, it makes sense now we must get them working.

That can't be a Tory leaflet from Crewe. Tamsin Dunwoody lives in Wales, not Surrey. ?!?
