Bob Piper has been a Labour Councillor for the Abbey
Ward in Sandwell, West Midlands, for nine years. He is a lifelong supporter of Aston Villa Football Club and a follower of Yorkshire County Cricket Club.
The views expressed here are mine in a personal capacity, not those of the Labour Party, Sandwell MBC, Aston Villa or Yorkshire County Cricket Club. Get it! Mine... just mine!
Yes I smiled at that. It was at the peak of the 'Brown Bounce' that it was reported in the Independent that Clegg was in talks with Brown about power sharing.
Clearly there has been an ideological sea change since although oddly this does not seem of a piece with the Party dropping all Cleggs orange book quasi Thatcherite small state stuff and shifting left a la Huhne who , had they counted the votes properly , actually won the leadership election..
I cannot begun to imagine why Clegg would suddenly want to disassociate himself from his one time would be ally Gordon Brown...nope nothing occurs ....mystifying ...passing strange ...( continued page 94)
Strewth - libdims cuddling up to Tories - never!
And there was me thinking their integrity was unassailable under their latest leader.
Have the poor prats slogging their guts out in the byways and highways been told yet?
1. He's only said that this would happen if the Tories were the largest party. Realistically he couldn't do anything else in that situation, the public would never forgive him for propping up a government they had just voted out.
2. It's only supply and confidence, not a coalition. That means it's not so much "vote Clegg get Cameron" as "vote Clegg, only get the bits of Cameron that Clegg (or Labour) likes the sound of".
Andy is either one of those closet Tories too... or he is one of those poor prats that chaz refers to.
If you really think propping up the Tories, and all that anti-Europe baggage they bring with them, will do anything less than tear the Liberal Party into shreds, you're a mug.
Realistically he couldn't do anything else in that situation, the public would never forgive him for propping up a government they had just voted out.
That is exactly what he said he was fully prepared to do until it became clear his little Party would make no difference anyway.
He is just trying to say you can vote Liberal and still be sure of getting rid of Brown. This is a lie you cannot as his Poll dancing routine has clearly shown.
Have you ever seen a Politician get so angry, so quickly, as Clegg?
If I had a stick I'd spend all day prodding him with it just to get him angry.
I've never seen a man get so frustarted at imbecile questions as him. I'm sure the reporters do it on purpose. It's a great reaction when the keep butting in on his answers.
It's a picture of, 'how not to behave in public'.
I'd prod him and say:'Are you a tory?'.
'Yes you are, admit it'.
and just as he says ye...or N.....I'd leap in and accuse him further.
Take another look when he's interviewed. As a rule of thumb, I say scratch a Liberal and you'll find a Liberal.
Politically banckrupt. No hope, no chance and no idea.
Bob - Blimey. Another shock this morning, as if libdimmery shennanigins wasn't enough for one day. It's really strange. Have you read Matt D'Ancona at 'firm but unfair' CH. He's said something positive about the PM!! His commentators are highly dischuffed.
As Peggy Mitchell would say - ear, wos gowin on?
Jesus. Do you two-dimensional types never tire of being wrong? The world has moved on, as much as you might wish otherwise this isn't the early 50s when 2 parties stictched it all up between them.
Clegg would support a minority Camoron government on certain issues, and presumably oppose it on other issues. We won't be beholden to the oily one. That's all right, because the Tories have some liberal policies, and some not so liberal policies that they wouldn't be able to get through in these circumstances. Lloyd George Part II, it isn't. The liberal identity will remain true, as it always has.
Ask people like newmania and the commenters at Iain Dale's Diary whether they regard me as having a Tory soul. I rather think not. Yet I support this strategy because I can see the point of it.
We have got to get Labour out because they are statist authoritarians who have no regard for the authentic rule of law, preferring to make up their own we-know-best shyte and acting as if there don't need to be any restraints on government power, because they are so righteous and noble they'll never make a mistake.

Bob,Asquith is our Conservative voter in the City and we would like to apologise for him.
I hope this is a sufficient apology but I will do my best to correct him and take him in for retraining. We think he was dropped on his head when a baby.
Once gain, our apologies. Normal service will be resumed as quickly as possible.
The Lib dems support is only offered to us when it is not required . It is offered to Brown when it might be . That is the difference; in reality Clegg could not carry his Party into alliance with our side. Asquith is young and foolish. He will learn
Hey Bob I am told there is the chance of challenge to Brown from Milburn ...anything for the Kremlinologists to chew on. Would he be supported ? Who would you support as a replacement? Millipede Balls ...anyone else?
Heard anything ?
I don't know whether you're trying to be funny or just being your usual twattish self. Suffice to say:
a. I've never voted Conservative and never will.
b. Anyone who read & understood my post in this very thread would understand that.
c. Before spouting about me, you might like to acquiant yourself with my posting history, and see how wrong you are.
Just because the city is tired of your tit party's misrule & is turning against you, don't blame me.
PS-
My mum lives in Baddeley Green. You once put a leaflet through her door. Though it didn't get you anywhere :)
My dearest Asquith, I'm sorry I shouldn't be so cruel but I am having treatment for it.
For the record, I am tired of my Party's misrule in Stoke-on-Trent and my constituency has adopted my electoral stance and is now 100% against the whole Mayoral system and Tory/Labour coalition. I'm nobody's fool my dear Asquith.
For the other record, I won the ballot in Baddeley Green (I live there) I also won it in a die hard Tory area as well.
I have also managed to win over the whole City party to my way of thinking.
Woe betide Tory councillors within the Labour Party.
How's the bump on your head?
