Bob Piper has been a Labour Councillor for the Abbey Ward in Sandwell, West Midlands, for 10 years. He is a lifelong supporter of Aston Villa Football Club and a follower of Yorkshire County Cricket Club.

Much embarrassment all round on the BBC breakfast sofa this morning. In a feature on the accommodation in the Olympic village in Beijing sports presenter Chris Hollins showed us film inside one of the apartments. "Quite sparse" he said, "as you can see, and there are no baths, so the atheletes will have to make do with a shower". He then added, as an aside,

"That won't please Paula Radcliffe, because as we all know, she likes to take an arse bath."
There was a pause for a second or two, and the sound of sniggering in the background, before the boy Hollins corrected himself. "Sorry" he said "that should have been an ice bath. Bill Turnbull continued to make a very poor job of stifling his laughter.
