Bob Piper has been a Labour Councillor for the Abbey
Ward in Sandwell, West Midlands, for nine years. He is a lifelong supporter of Aston Villa Football Club and a follower of Yorkshire County Cricket Club.
The views expressed here are mine in a personal capacity, not those of the Labour Party, Sandwell MBC, Aston Villa or Yorkshire County Cricket Club. Get it! Mine... just mine!
Richard McComb is supposed to be a restaurant reviewer of some kind for The Birmingham Post.
I say 'of some kind' because the kind I mean is the snobby, reactionary, and offensive variety. The sort of restaurant reviewer that wants to tell you more about how obnoxious he is, and slightly less about the food he is consuming, no doubt on his expense account.
International migration has broadened the scope of the game, boosted by the flight of workers from the new EU accession states to Britain's sole surviving great industry - flogging things (shoes, bags, Wiis, garden furniture, food).
Moving on to his main course:
The ever robust service economy, and the preference of work-shy Brits to engage in skateboarding rather than gainful employment, means the opportunities are endless for our Baltic brethren and our cousins from Krakow.
Have you ever noticed how some people patronisingly use the terms 'bretheren' or 'cousins' about immigrants? What do you think they are trying to tell us? Finally, he delivers the coup de grace with his snidey little comment about Sandwell:
As a concession to pub fare circa 1979, I had onion rings, which are a bit Terry and June for 2008. Mind you, the Kings Head is only 30 seconds away, in the Medfords' Austin Allegro, from Sandwell, where sales of Terry and June DVDs are among the highest in the country.
Tell us next time your in the area chum, and we will shove our Terry and June DVD, together with a liberal helping of the Terry Scott patisserie, lubricated with your spritzer, right up your jacksie!
