Hopi Sen with a quite brilliant post about crime and David Cameron's journey from 'hoodie hugger' through to 'dealing with the thugs who rule our streets'.
That took about a year. Perhaps it's not inconsistent. Maybe you're supposed to worry about their eternal souls as you lock them up.
It's Cameronism at it's best- "we'll try a message of hope and optimism, and if that doesn't work we'll go for the fear and the misery." (He's doing the same on the economy. A year ago it was all Britain's a great place to live, now it's sky falling in time. Someone should dig up those quotes)
Been there, done it, got the T Shirt, and left a comment. Good that you linked to the post. Curious, why didn't you leave a comment? There are some good left leaning and non-aligned blogs short on the comment front. I feel it is a bit like entering somebody's house, the doormat is there to wipe your feet. It's not a criticism, although our critics refer to the lack of our comments, just that I would like to see the Tory bloggers given a run for their money.
A good point, John. Actually I don't often leave a comment where I agree with someone like this but leave a link to direct other people there. The right-wing blogs seem obsessed with how many comments they get and how many readers, but I can't for the life of me understand why.
The News of the Screws outsells The Observer, but it doesn't make it a better newspaper.

Bob,
Where is the Minister of Truth when you need him?
