Hastilow fall out   » Permalink  |  TrackBack (0)

Cassilis says he is very grateful that the Tories sacked Nigel Hastilow, because on Monday he had planned to write...

"If David Cameron doesn't expel Hastilow immediately then I don't care if come the next election Brown has flattened the Commons, signed sovereignty over to Brussels and nationalised my knob and leased it back to me once a month at exorbitant rates, the Tories will not get my vote"
So, whilst I'm thankful that the nation has been spared the gift of Cassilis' mighty organ, I do think he should bear in mind that Hastilow wasn't actually sacked immediately... he resigned because he refused to accept the Tory instruction that he should submit his journalistic efforts to the former editor of the News of the Screws (seriously) for vetting.

Interestingly, the Express and Swastika up until yesterday lunchtime was carrying not only Hastilow's offensive article in full, it was inviting comments. By lunchtime it was obvious someone had cocked up big style and the unmoderated comments had attracted the attention of the BNP meatheads and their racist fellow travellers.... suddenly, the comments and Hastilow's article were both pulled as someone at the paper probably realised exactly how inflammatory the article was.

Would you care to enlighten your readers as to how you are aware that Cassilis is well endowed? Have you been cock watching? Nigel Hastilow may have been wrong to claim that Enoch Powell was right, but the Tory Party is definitely wrong to demand that he submit to their rules of censorship. Two wrongs don't make a right. What began as an issue of racism has turned into one of freedom of speech. I can't and won't defend the former, but I can and will defend the latter.

That didn't pass me by actually - it just wasn't clear when I wrote the post. And I agree, offering him an escapte route based on vetting him in the future was dispicable too.

On the 'other thing', I've often wondered if Railtrack could run it better anyway.....

John... I'm working on the assumption that we wouldn't nationalise the bloody thing if it was useless.

Erm Bob, the article is still there in all it's glory, comments intact. Was planning my own post on it later if I get the time. For now, you can still find it here, presumably they've just removed the link to it.

Anxious though I am to bring this topic to a close a couple of clarifications are needed.

(1) Mr P's ignorance of my nether regions is as total as most of the world - only Mrs C and I have any familiarity with it and even we're not always sure what it's doing.

(2) I make no great claims of scale or quality but the 16 month old who regularly wakes me at silly hours of the morning is testament at least to it's functionality.

Let that be the knob topic closed (both mine and the Tory PPC version)
