A controversial report which is highly critical of how the elected members and senior management of Walsall Council discriminated against an employee who after he complained that the Tory run Council was misspending millions of pounds of funding intended for poor areas in the borough is due to be published according to the Walsall Advertiser. The report reveals that despite "repeated requests and warnings, the council did not follow its own rules and ignored his mental health disability, breaking employment and disability discrimination laws."
Local Labour MP David Winnick says the Council Cabinet should hang their heads in shame, and his colleague Bruce George says the investigation should have covered the treatment of other officers too. He adds:
"I will deliver this report like a free sheet to all and sundry, including the local government minister, the relevant government departments and Southwark Council where the former chief executive now works, so that they can see just a glimmer of how Walsall is run.
And he said former officers should accept financial liability, adding: "This has cost an enormous amount. That cost should be borne by those responsible, not the innocent tax payer.
"The report shows that there is something rotten to the core in Walsall Council."
Well, Bruce, my e-mail is in the left hand column if you want me to help spread the word. It will be interesting when the report comes out to see if any of the officers accused in this report of failing in their duty of care to Mr Francis are still working for the Council and trousering a comfy income out of it.

You'll be interested to know Bob that Peter Francis has set up his own blog whatwalsalldidtome.blogspot.com
It makes for interesting reading, so much so that Walsall council is already seeing if it can get it close it down..or so I hear.
You'll also be interested to know that the police are still investigating Walsall council following allegations of malfeasance made by another ex-employee David Parish. And he should know what he is talking about given his previous job was as a superintendent with West Midlands Police.
