Walsall Conservative Councillor Gary Perry represents Pelsall. Pelsall is a village, and at least the people of Pelsall now know who the village idiot is.
Four months ago the local newspaper emblazoned a story across its pages by their excellent reporter George Makin about a 'drugs den' in the centre of Walsall.
"The gallery, covered in thousands of needles which could carry HIV and hepatitis, was shown to the Advertiser by 23-year-old former addict Emma Edwards, who used the gallery to inject heroin after stealing to pay for her habit."
Last week, disgusted that nothing had been done about it, George Makin returned to the attack. The response?:
"When asked why the Intown Row gallery had not been closed after its discovery in April, Walsall Strategic Borough Partnership, which is made up of the police, Walsall Council and the health groups, said no-one was available for comment. When asked by the Advertiser what it had done since April to close the drugs den, the council issued a statement suggesting it had no knowledge of the situation.
WHAT!!! Can't they read!!! Well, this week, the Council's Cabinet Member for (wait for it) 'Safer Stronger Communities' said...
"We were concerned to hear of drug taking in Intown Row."
Just exactly HOW concerned, Councillor Perry? So concerned that you carried on picking up your allowances for creating Safer Stronger Communities for four months and did sod all about it... that's how concerned.
Bob, would it surprise you that there are Labour Lead members for Stroger and Safer Communities who are guilty of similar misdemeanors?

bob,
i note you list Cllr Perry as "The Village Idiot" However Cllr Perry has served the people of Pelsall very well for the past 10 years making many improvments to the village. Due to his efforts the Village is a safe, clean and wonderful community in which to live. On the comments of his cabinet title "Safer, Stronger community" might i comment that it was YOUR Labour government that intrducted such titles and Cllr Perrys works extremly hard for both Pelsall and Walsall. And might i also add that YOU TO get paid very well for your role on Sandwell Council by the tax Paying Public. Do You Not? Manybe the Tax payers money would be better spent by you working in YOUR community rather than Blogging the works of anthor Council that is Rated higher under Conservative Control than your Labout Controled one.On the subject of the `Village Idiot` I think that title is best awarded to your leader Mr Gordon Brown
