Never mind your Glastonbury's... last night we went to the Festival Med in Loulé, and it was the dog's gonads! Headlining were the fantastic Tinariwen from Mali, described by Andy Kershaw as the world's first 'roll ' roll' band. The festival took over the historic old town in Loulé and provided a terrific setting as shots of the performers were broadcast onto the sides of buildings in the town. Romp about in the mud if you want to, everyone to their own, but me, listening to an electric Touareg band under moonlit skies with the tempreature in the late 20's at midnight.... that'll do for me!
Pete over at Fat Man in the Bathtub was moaning the other day about African music "all sounding the same", (which is just how my old man used to dismiss any music he didn't understand) well, all I can say is... cobblers and he should try getting out more!
