Hanoi here we come   » Permalink  |  TrackBack (0)

Ok, the election is done and dusted, and it's time to head off for a holiday. My self and Mrs P. are heading off to Vietnam tomorrow for a couple of weeks. I have been wanting to visit over the last 3 years, inspired by Our Man in Hanoi, whose photograph of KOTO kids in Sapa features below. Blog postings, therefore, will be spasmodic over the next few days, and when we're in the mountains near Sapa.

Steve, Our Man in Hanoi, is competing with three other travel writers for an award of $500 which will assist him with his latest project in Granada. Please visit this site, read his article, add a comment, and if you've got a blog and would like to link to the article it would be great because the comments count as votes towards the $500 prize..

Best of luck Steve!

Best wishes Bob, I think we all need a holiday! I'm off to Los Angeles in a few weeks.

This must be one of the few remaining remaining countries not tainted by western values. We found Cuba three/four years nearly so, and a May Day rally just like old times. Let us know how it goes.
ps
Have spent several months enjoying your site.
Like Sandwell, Redditch stopped the BNP.

Pat, John, brilliant to hear from you. When I read that... "This must be one of the few remaining remaining countries not tainted by western values" I thought you were talking about Walsall for a second.

I went to Cuba on Mayday in 2000 and had a place on the trade union stand as the marches entered the Place de la Revolution... I swear Fidel was waving at me, but I think the other couple of hundred people probably thought that too.

I've heard that Vietnam is one of the few countries that uses socialism successfully. How exactly does that work, and what are the benefits?

I don't suppose that you have got room for a little stowaway in your luggage?

Thanks, as ever, for your support. Have a fantastic time and say hi to the kids at KOTO for me.

Just remember - don't let the place stress you out and keep smiling.
