So, as the dust settles on the embers of what was once a possible Conservative Party challenge to Ken Livingstone, using ex-Labour member and current Lib Dem, Greg Dyke, it would seem the Conservative Party Central Office are clutching their sore bits after getting one hell of a kicking all round. The Lib Dems have even broken the habit of a lifetime and managed to come out of the fiasco looking as if they have some principles (or should I say A princilple). Obviously they like deals behind the electorate's back after an election, rather than in advance of one.
An amusing little bit at the end of Iain Dale's review of the whole farce... "The only person chuckling into his whisky glass tonight will be Steven J Norris." No, Iain, there is someone else you may have overlooked, although I suspect his chuckle would be more a belly laugh.
I think that we saw the funny side of this which Iain Dale took seriously. I note today that he has highlighted a passage of text to show that it was a story. However, he should have highlighted the text a bit lower down where Menzies Campbell said that it was a non-starter.
I note that the Guardian has Iain Dale's cock up as the best of the web, for the wrong reason. On the same day, I highlighted the misplaced media attention given to the Virginia Tech killings compared with the more than 4 times greater killings in Iraq from bomb blasts. This angle has now been picked up by a cartoonist in the Times and two writers on Comment is free and another blogger.
Whoever the best of the web judge is he or she is blind.
