For obvious reasons you have to treat a lot of the news coverage today with a degree of scepticism. A good spoof has to have just a touch of possibility contained in it. I particularly warmed to this story... Blair: I'll be treading the boards again. I'm sure, given a decade staring across at the Tory front bench, he would be excellent in Only Fools and Horses, and this conjurs up an image which is entirely believable....
'An ambassador arrived at Number 10 the other day to find Tony dressed like a Puritan, waving a crucifix in the air and shouting about chasing out the devil. Fortunately the ambassador had studied The Crucible at UCL.'
UPDATE: This is the silliest April Fools Joke. As if anybody would believe it, and they've even got someone called Oakeshott claiming to have written it! Ridiculous!
Call me thick. I followed the link and know it is part written by an Oakeshott. I have tried an anagram of it and still fail to get the April Fool link.
John, I'm tempted to call you thick. I suspect the article wasn't intended as an April Fool's joke, but my point was that no-one could take a Charles Clarke bid seriously!

I saw through Iain Dale's launch to become the Lord Mayor of London. However, I don't understand the Oakeshott bit. Can you explain?
