The Bearwood Bloggers might be interested in this article about our tiny hamlet from last week's Birmingham Post Property supplement. I'm slightly confused about the suggestion that there are only 7 roads in Bearwood (?) and the reference near the end stating:
"A year ago in Thimblemill Road, one of the largest in Bearwood, residents mounted a petition to prevent their addresses taking on a Smethwick postcode."
For a start off, Thimblemill Road in Bearwood is fairly small, I've heard nothing about any such proposal to change the postcode, nor a petition, and finally, there is no Smethwick postcode.... they are all Birmingham postcodes. As for house prices, I suspect the Methodist Preacher's heart would have missed a beat or two if the houses in his road were valued at between £160,000 to £170,000!
On the basis of what the man from Dixons said in this artilce, there is no way I would entrust the sale of my house to that firm. The bloke clearly doesn't know anything about the area. There has been no petition, no postcode change, nothing. As to your comment about the price of my house, no problem. We've no intention of selling - I enjoy looking over to the woods too much.
I spotted this article last week and was amused for similar reasons! Whilst the general theme seems to be sound, there are just too many inaccuracies ("Attica"?) to take it too seriously.
